While the WrestleMania card remains in flux, it appears WWE has settled on at least one more match that's going to be added to the Show of Shows. POST Wrestling was first to report plans of a bout pitting 76-year-old WWE Chairman Vince McMahon against Pat McAfee in what would mark the former's return to the ring after last squaring off with Bret Hart at WrestleMania in 2010.
McAfee, who calls the action on SmackDown each week, stepped into the squared circle to face Adam Cole in NXT and received widespread praise for the performance he delivered.
Fighting Mr. McMahon is another matter altogether, though, and the storyline is expected to begin when the septuagenarian appears for a rare interview on The Pat McAfee Show this Thursday. If we had to hazard a guess, Austin Theory will be involved somehow, but this is certainly one way to drive up ticket sales (with WrestleMania taking place over two nights, those have been slow to sell).
Vince McMahon vs. Pat McAfee isn't something we anticipated seeing in 2022, but you can't deny it's an intriguing prospect. Hopefully, we only have a few days to wait before more is revealed!
