After winning the US title in a triple-threat match at Clash of Champions, Dolph Ziggler seemingly decided to relinquish the championship last week. In light of this, Daniel Bryan announced that a tournament would be held to crown a new champ last night on SmackDown LIVE.

The first two matches were held during the show, with Bobby Roode pinning former champ Baron Corbin, and Jinder Mahal going over Tye Dillinger.

The Showoff vacating the title is clearly an angle, so it'll be interesting to see how this all plays out. Will he enter the tournament himself in an effort to regain the title he dropped and silence his doubters for good, perhaps?
