Fans were treated to a dream match last night on SmackDown, as NXT Champion Adam Cole defended his title against former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan.

Bryan ran into Triple H and Shawn Michaels earlier in the night, and the Hall of Famers made their intentions very clear. They felt the black and gold brand was called out after the Survivor Series announcement at Crown Jewel, and decided to first the first shot in the upcoming brand battle. Bryan agreed to face Cole, but only if the title was on the line.

The match was as great as you'd expect with these guys involved, but a couple of commercial breaks did lessen the impact somewhat. In the end, Cole was able to withstand a relentless assault from Bryan to hit the Panama Sunrise and his Last Shot to pick up the clean win.

Afterwards, Triple H and the rest of the NXT roster (well, most of 'em) entered the ring and officially declared war on Raw and SmackDown.

We can't wait for Monday!
