Last night's SmackDown took place in Glasgow, Scotland, and the crowd was on fire. That was evident from a confrontation between Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and AJ Styles ahead of their "I Quit" match at tonight's Clash at the Castle.
The American Nightmare had to stop talking because the fans were singing "Cody! Cody Rhodes!" so loudly, though he was soon faced with Styles and The OC's Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson.
The Phenomenal One took a shot at Rhodes leaving WWE, NJPW, ROH, and the company he helped start (meaning AEW), adding, "When the going gets tough, Cody gets going."
Rhodes countered by saying he's only ever left places because he's never been afraid to gamble on himself for bigger and better things. He then pointed out how Styles had to "pretend to be Mark Henry for a night" to get a title shot.
Ultimately, both men vowed to make the other say "I quit" at the PLE.
Elsewhere in the show, Kevin Owens squared off with Solo Sikoa and, when The Bloodline attacked, Randy Orton made a surprise appearance much to the delight of the Scottish crowd to make the save and send fans home happy.
There were also a couple of dark matches after SmackDown, with Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn defeating Ludwig Kaiser and hometown hero, Drew McIntyre, beating Sheamus.
