As Dave Meltzer reported a number of weeks ago, several WWE contracts are set to expire in the next few months and former WWE Champion AJ Styles is among them. While there's been talk of the Phenomenal One being in the midst of some sort of contractual dispute, Mike Johnson reports that's not the case and the truth of the matter is that he's simply looking to secure a lighter schedule.

As of right now, Styles is under contract until next April so we'll have him through WrestleMania season and probably beyond. The question most are asking, though, is how long he'll ultimately sign for.

At 41 years of age, it's highly unlikely that Styles will want to sign a 5-year deal which is what WWE usually secures its talent for. Instead, he'll probably be looking for a deal similar to Rey Mysterio who recently returned to WWE on a 2-year contract with an option for him to pull out after 18 months.

Either way, there's no way Styles is leaving WWE as his popularity ensures that he can land a big money contract and it's hard to imagine even him being able to make more on the independent scene.
