AJ Styles won the WWE Championship from Jinder Mahal on an episode of SmackDown Live last November and he's held it ever since, holding off competition from a number of competitors, including Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev. Now, the face that runs the place has made history by holding the world title on SmackDown Live for over 281 days, a record which beats the one held by JBL.
"My record has been broken and I Could not be more proud of @AJStylesOrg -a world class individual and athlete, looking forward to watching this incredible performer Sunday at @WWE Summerslam," JBL said on Twitter earlier today. In the video below, Styles talks about breaking that record just days before he faces Samoa Joe at SummerSlam in Brooklyn this Sunday.
