After two finishes surrounded by controversy, the personal rivalry between AJ Styles and Samoa Joe finally came to a head at Super Show-Down when the WWE Champion managed to retain his title after an exciting back and forth no disqualification match. The two men started fighting before the bell even rang but things took a turn for the worse for Joe after he was put through a table by Styles.
With a weakened leg, Joe made multiple attempts to put Styles in the Coquina Clutch and came very close to finishing his opponent off but Styles ultimately managed to reverse that into the Calf Crusher and Joe had no other choice than to tap out. The rivalry between these two is presumably at an end now and it should be fun seeing who is next to challenge the WWE Champion as his reign continues.
We'll have a much better idea of that later today, of course, especially as either Daniel Bryan or The Miz will be named the new #1 contender. Check back here later for all the details on that match.
