AJ Styles returned on Raw this week as a surprise entrant in the Last Chance Gauntlet Match to decide who will replace Apollo Crews at Money in the Bank, and ended up taking the final spot in the Men's Ladder Match.
Bobby Lashley kicked things off with a dominant performance, eliminating Titus O'Neil, Akira Tozawa and Shelton Benjamin. However, when Humberto Carrillo gave him more than he bargained for, his frustrations led to him getting disqualified when he put his hands on the ref. Carrillo then managed to defeat both Angel Garza and Austin Theory, before Styles' music hit.
An exhausted Humberto put up a fight, but The Phenomenal One's aggression was simply too much to defend against, and he ultimately tapped out to the Calf Crusher.
After the match, Styles grabbed the mic and referenced being "buried alive" by The Undertaker at WrestleMania. He said his opponents in the Ladder Match hadn't been through what he has, and he will do whatever it takes to claim that contract.
Tune in this Sunday for what promises to be a very unique Money in the Bank!
