During the WWE 365 special on AJ Styles on the WWE Network, the Phenomenal One revealed what WWE Chairman Vince McMahon told him when he started working for the company back in 2016.
"I was anxious, I was worried, what was expected of me," he revealed. "I talked to Vince. He goes, ‘We’ve got guys that can do what you do, that’s not a big deal. I need a pitbull.’ And I thought, ‘Oh! That’s who I am.’" While those remarks may seem a tad disrespectful on the surface, Styles clearly embraced that and it's paid off for him in a big way over the past couple of years.
After all, McMahon clearly has a lot of faith in Styles because he's held the WWE Championship on SmackDown Live for well over a year and is one of only a handful of Superstars to hold their own against Brock Lesnar. Do you think the company has handled Styles the right way since he made the leap from TNA and New Japan Pro Wrestling? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
