American Alpha Explain Why They Want To Be More Than Just Team Angle 2.0
The talented tag team of Jason Jordan and Chad Gable has had mixed fortunes since hitting the main roster, but American Alpha talks here about why they hope to be seen as more than just Team Angle 2.0...
American Alpha excelled in NXT but have struggled on the main roster mostly thanks to a lot of bad booking. Despite the fact the team won the SmackDown Live Tag Team Championships from Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt, they haven't been given the chance to really excel and recently seem to have faded into the background.
In a recent interview, the pair weighed in on the desire from fans to see them paired with Kurt Angle to recreate Team Angle (a group they've been compared to since day one) and explained that while they would like to see that happen, they're far more interested in making a mark of their own.
"We realized everybody was going to make the correlation between World’s Greatest Tag Team or Team Kurt Angle, and us. We still want to be our own individuals. We still want to be American Alpha and not Team Angle 2.0. But if the opportunity came and Kurt would put his stamp on us, then we could essentially be Team Angle, but we would like to be Team Alpha with the tutelage of Team Angle. We want the separation between the two, we’re our own tag team."
With Kurt Angle serving in a non-wrestling capacity as RAW's General Manager and American Alpha on SmackDown Live, a pairing happening in the near future seems unlikely. With The New Day now on the latter show and taking aim at The Usos, it's also hard to say when we might see them back on television, so who knows what the future holds in store for the talented pairing!
