The original plan for John Cena at this year's
WrestleMania was for him to square off with Lars Sullivan. However, the NXT call-up's anxiety issues put a quick end to that and we've since been left wondering what, if anything, WWE has planned for him at the Showcase of the Immortals.
Well, according to John Pollock of POST Wrestling, Cena is still scheduled to wrestle at the show and while he doesn't know who his opponent will be, plans are in place for him.
"One option could be Elias if Cena is just coming in for something quick with low expectations," he says. "There is also the question of how available Cena is to do any television before ‘Mania considering he’s in the middle of shooting a movie. Based on television, it feels that Cena should do something involving R-Truth after all the references. Maybe they can attack Elias and rap together."
That would be somewhat underwhelming but it would make sense and it's definitely a likely sounding possibility. However, him facing Samoa Joe is a far more exciting prospect as is Cena taking on someone like Kurt Angle for his "farewell" match. We'll keep you guys updated.
