Bobby Lashley is competing in John Cena's place in the World Cup Tournament at Crown Jewel today and the storyline reason for the leader of the Cenation being written out of the event was weak to say the least. Now, Dave Meltzer has confirmed that Cena was advised that going to the event would have been looked at negatively in Hollywood and hurt his transition from wrestler to Hollywood A-Lister.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has come under fire for a previous Instagram post and clips of Cena praising the country have been doing the rounds for the past few weeks so it's easy to see why he decided to give Crown Jewel a miss. It's been a weird few weeks for WWE thanks to Saudi Arabia; they even considered using a green screen to make it look like Daniel Bryan was in the country!
Needless to say, it's no great surprise that that didn't happen and it will be interesting seeing whether Cena is treated any differently by WWE after choosing to give this show a miss. Stay tuned for more.
