There's no polite way to say this: the Money in the Bank Ladder Matches were utter shit. The decision to have the participants battle it out in WWE HQ as they attempted to climb the corporate ladder and retrieve the briefcases on the roof actually seemed like a pretty fun idea, but the execution was just awful.
We expected a bit of comedy, of course, but this whole thing was a farce. Random Brother Love appearances in toilets, clowns popping up from behind couches, food fights involving Otis and Paul Heyman (they're fat, see, so they love lots of food... geddit??), and all sorts of other terribly edited and thrown together nonsense.
The one semi-amusing moments came when Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles bust into Vince McMahon's office and were told to "get out" by their irate boss, fixing his chairs before they left.
In the end, Asuka managed to retrieve one of the briefcases after three of her opponents simply vanished and never even made it to the top. Then, Baron Corbin threw both Rey Mysterio and Aleister Black off the roof (are they dead?) and tussled with Styles at the top of the ladder. The Phenomenal One grabbed the case, but then dropped it into the waiting arms of Otis.
We get that WWE are working with limited resources here, but there were ways to do this type of match without sacrificing every last shred of drama and realism for a few crappy comedy bits.
Anyway, we were glad to see Asuka win. Otis? Ummmm, yeah, sure. What did you guys think of Money in the Bank? Let us know in the usual place.
