So Asuka vs. Becky Lynch is not official for the Royal Rumble afterall.

The match was announced on this week’s WWE Main Event episode, which was essentially a recap show hosted by Scott Stanford.

There’s no reasoning on why the company has went back on the match, but the storyline excuse appears to be that officials denied giving the former Smackdown GM Paige one last request:

We’re still several weeks away from the Royal Rumble so the company can always go back to this; however, with the rumors that Becky Lynch will be facing Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania 35, it’s most likely that the former Smackdown women’s champ will be in Rumble match instead.
