WWE Smackdown Live star Asuka has mostly been absent since her feud with Carmella earlier in the summer. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE does indeed have plans for Asuka, and that there has been talk of turning the former NXT Women’s Champion heel on Smackdown.

At this point in Asuka’s main roster career, turning her heel would truly benefit the former NXT Women’s champion. Asuka has been heavily damaged since her loss at WrestleMania and it doesn’t seem like WWE has much interest in pushing her as a top babyface.

Asuka has shown that she can be a great heel when she was in NXT during her dominant reign as champion; She slowly transformed into a cocky, dominant badass. Hopefully with this heel turn, the WWE universe will finally get to see what made Asuka special in the first place.
