Despite reports that Matt Riddle being quickly eliminated from the
Royal Rumble was a Vince McMahon decision to punish him for his comments about WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg, it sounds like Triple H isn't at all bothered by the situation.
During the latest Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez explained that The Game has no issues with NXT Superstars calling out main roster talent (which Riddle recently did at a non-televised NXT Live event despite reportedly having backstage heat with Vince for past remarks).
"As far as I know the Lesnar Riddle thing is not a work," Alvarez says. "Vince isn’t happy with Riddle calling out Lesnar, but Triple H doesn’t care. So, in Triple H’s mind if you wanna go out on an NXT show and call out Lesnar, then go ahead. Maybe one day it will catch on to the degree that people will want to get involved with it, but what I was told is there’s nothing going on."
"It’s not a work," he emphasised. "Triple H doesn’t care. Vince doesn’t like it, but it’s NXT and NXT is NXT and Triple H is allowing Riddle to do it. That’s the story that I heard."
Triple H is no doubt well aware that Riddle's comments actually bring eyes to NXT and it's still hard to escape the feeling that there could be a match between him and Lesnar somewhere down the line.
