Who will face Brock Lesnar at next year's Royal Rumble?
While there’s a strong chance that the ‘Beast Incarnate’ will retain the WWE Championship at the big pay-per-view, Lesnar’s matches still tend to excite many fans watching the show. Word backstage is that officials might be building up to a rematch between Lesnar and Velasquez at the big four pay-per-view.
However, according to
cagesideseats, management might end up saving that rematch for WrestleMania 36 and have either Randy Orton or Kevin Owens challenge for the WWE Championship.
Orton vs. Lesnar could be the bigger draw due to the star power of both men and the previous clash that these two had at Summerslam 2016. That match-up ended via TKO, with Lesnar busting open the former multi-time world champion hard way. These two can easily play off their previous encounter to sell their rematch at the Rumble.
The only time Owens and Lesnar shared a ring was during a live event in Madison Square Garden in 2017.
Of course, all these are not confirmed and plans can change. At last note, Velasquez still needs surgery for his knee, thus having a rematch against Lesnar this quick wouldn’t make much sense unless the bout ends very quickly like their previous encounter.
