205 Live will be making its return this Friday!
For the past few weeks, the cruiserweight centric show has been doing highlight reel type episodes featuring names such as Oney Lorcan, Ariya Daivari, and The Singh Brothers. According to PWInsider, two episodes worth of 205 Live matches have been taped down at the Performance Center.
At the moment, the match-ups have yet to be confirmed; however, the announce team of Jeremy Borash and Todd Philips will be doing the commentary going forward. Unfortunately, Aiden English was one of the names cut from the company during the mass string of departures, so the former Impact announcer is his replacement.
Borash is notable for his lengthy tenure with TNA/Impact Wrestling (2002 – 2018) as a ring announcer, booker, interviewer and other roles backstage. The 45-year-old is also credited for his behind-the-scenes work of the Broken Universe in TNA/Impact Wrestling. Since joining WWE in 2018, Borash has mostly worked down in NXT as senior director of content and development.
At the moment, eight cruiserweights are fighting for an opportunity to become the NXT Interim Cruiserweight Champion due to Jordan Devlin being unable to defend his belt, though there’s no word on whether any of those matches will carry over to the 205 live show. The new episode will air after Smackdown at 10pm this week.
