If the rumours are true, then Friday night will be one of the biggest in the history of AEW. Former WWE Superstar CM Punk is expected to make his debut for the company during the second episode of Rampage, and that's going to generate a lot of mainstream media attention for AEW.
WWE won't be happy about that, of course, especially with SummerSlam taking place on Saturday night. If headlines that day are completely focused on Punk, it will detract from the PPV, so how does the sports entertainment giant plan to respond?
Well, believe it or not, it looks like WWE will do...nothing.
"Source states to not expect a 'reactionary; move if, more like when, CM Punk shows up on AEW Rampage Friday night, 24 hours prior to WWE’s second biggest show of the year. Time will tell," reveals the WrestleVotes Twitter account. Despite that, we'd be shocked if WWE doesn't have something big planned for the event just to take some attention away from AEW.
Either way, they may be damned if they do and damned if they don't. Friday should be huge for AEW, regardless, and while Punk's debut isn't confirmed, it's pretty much a given it will happen right now.
Stay tuned for updates.
