Heading into Crown Jewel, it's fair to say that most of us expected to see Braun Strowman finally become Universal Champion. However, things didn't play out that way and it was ultimately Brock Lesnar who walked away with the title after squashing the Monster Among Men with a series of F5s.
Now, Dave Meltzer has shed some light on the thinking behind that and it sounds like a rematch is being planned. "Lesnar is signed for at least two more appearances," he recently confirmed on Wrestling Observer Radio. "He’s gonna face AJ at Survivor Series which is non-title. Then the plan is for Strowman. Whether that’s Rumble or WrestleMania I don’t know."
Apparently, the story they were trying to tell at Crown Jewel is that Strowman was weakened by Baron Corbin's attack and that presumably will help build excitement for when the fan-favourite Superstar does ultimately dethrone Lesnar. It's just a shame the announcers failed to get that across because most fans are looking at this as a squash match rather than there being a story here!
