During the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer shed some light on why WWE has now removed Vic Joseph from the RAW announce team. He had been calling the action alongside Jerry "The King" Lawler ever since Dio Maddin was taken out by Brock Lesnar but the WWE Hall of Famer is now joined on Monday nights by Tom Philips and Byron Saxton.

"The decision was made in the last week," Meltzer explained. "From what I gather, since we heard the name a couple of days ago, Byron was always going to be [the third guy]. The decision had been made for Byron to be the third guy. Lawler, who was only supposed to be short term, looks like he’s there for a longer term."

In other words, Saxton was always going to replace Maddin but it seems WWE may have decided that Joseph either wasn't doing a good enough job (reviews haven't been overly kind) or that Saxton just has more chemistry with Phillips. Paul Heyman pushed for Joseph and Maddin to call the action on Monday nights but it definitely appears as Vince McMahon overruled him.

What do you guys think about the change?
