Zelina Vega was released by WWE last November for reportedly breaching her contract. That came shortly after Vince McMahon put a new rule in place regarding third-party platforms like Twitch and Cameo, though it's though Vega's Only Fans account (which is non-nude) may have been most problematic.
Well, Vega made her return during Friday night's episode of SmackDown after being announced as the latest competitor in the women's Money in the Bank ladder match. She quickly lost to Liv Morgan, but it seems WWE does have plans for her as a singles wrestler.
She certainly won't be managing Andrade now he's signed with AEW, while her husband, Aleister Black, is also expected to head there. As for what led to Vega's WWE return, PWInsider is reporting that there were many people within the company who believed releasing her was a mistake. Those people pushed for the two sides to start talking and a new deal was obviously struck.
It's said that WWE officials even apologised to Vega for the way she was released, and it was this that prompted them to make an offer that would see her sign a deal to return to WWE.
These conversations are believed to have happened in May, no great surprise when we saw her at the WWE Performance Center not too long ago. There, she was training with The Rock's daughter, Simone Johnson, so it's still feasible she'll manage her if and when she's called up to the main roster.
