Earlier this year, various reports started doing the rounds regarding the possibility of Dave Bautista returning to WWE for a WrestleMania 34 match. That obviously never came to pass but the Avengers: Infinity War star has now confirmed that he was indeed contacted in regards to teaming up with Ronda Rousey to do battle with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon at the Showcase of the Immortals.
Apparently, he had positive discussions with WWE right up until three weeks before the event when he was suddenly met with radio silence. "I sent a text to Hunter. I was like, ‘Hey man, I don’t know if you put any more thought into what’s going on. I’m really excited about the possibilities. And I literally never heard back from them. They just stopped talking to me about it."
"Man, I don’t know what else I can do to try to," he continues. "I want to end my career the right way. I’m faithful and loyal to the WWE. I’m proud of being from there and I want to do good business with them, but they just don’t make it easy. You know, they just don’t."
WWE would be smart to bring Dave back for one more run but both the RAW and SmackDown Live rosters are stacked so it's hard to say where he could fit in. He did, however, go on to say that if he doesn't get the "right" opportunity next year, he'll be walking away from the ring for good.
