RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch recent caught up with TalkSport where the subject of her real-life relationship with Seth Rollins came up. Then two were paired up on television heading into Extreme Rules last month in a feud with Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans which received mixed reviews from fans.
"I was very apprehensive," she admitted when asked how she felt about them being paired up on TV. "What I didn’t want was everybody talking about the relationship. What I wanted was two bad asses, two people at the top of their game fighting side-by-side. Not for the world to be reminded every five minutes that this is Becky Lynch’s boyfriend or that’s Seth Rollins’ girlfriend."
However, that didn't happen as Lynch alludes to: "Which, of course, they didn’t do. They were the masters of subtlety..."
"No matter what, you know when you put me and Seth Rollins in a fight you’re going to get pure passion and we’re going to pull out all the stops," she continued. "But in terms of having my relationship be the freaking be the front and centre, that’s not what I’m about. That’s not what I’ve worked towards. That’s not what I wanted."
"I wanted to work with Seth because he’s the best in the business – you know, besides me – but working with him was awesome. He really is the absolute best."
WWE has since moved on from pairing these two up, something Lynch is clearly glad about. It was a pretty blatant attempt by WWE to put the spotlight on their relationship for ratings but not something that paid off because it seems that fans ultimately weren't interested.
