Former WWE writer Dave Schilling, who left the company in 2019, has taken to Twitter to say that former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston was never seen as a top star by management. It's no secret that "#KofiMania" was the result of luck more than anything after Mustafa Ali was injured, and fans got behind Kingston similar to what happened with Daniel Bryan a number of years prior.
In a clip share online from Sunday's Talking Smack, Big E reflected on Kingston having his legs cut out from beneath him, while The Miz argues that The New Day member didn't work hard enough to remain atop the card, something which has led to sports writer Andreas Hale accusing the A-Lister of using his "white privilege" for blaming Kofi.
That led to Schilling weighing in with the claims you see below. He even goes so far as to say, "The plan was Kofi getting squashed by Brock from DAY ONE of his title reign. DAY ONE!" This indicates that WWE always planned to bury Kofi, likely because he rose to a place on the card they didn't think he should be (something we know Vince McMahon isn't fond of).
