Last week's episode of AEW Dynamite topped RAW in the key 18-49 demographic, and with Monday Night Football making its return, WWE pulled out all the stops to get fans to tune into last night's episode.

Before the show started, Big E confirmed that he planned to cash his Money in the Bank briefcase in on WWE Champion Bobby Lashley. In the main event, he defended his title against Randy Orton, and only narrowly managed to retain it. After the bell rang, The All Mighty attacked Matt Riddle and Orton at ringside, but ended up tweaking his knee in the process.

It was then that Big E took his shot, charging to the ring to cash in. He slapped Lashley in the face, and after a brief back and forth (that included a 2-count for Lashley after he hit The New Day member with a Spear), Big E managed to hit the Big Ending for the 1-2-3.

With that, he became WWE Champion for the first time, and Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods were quick to come out and celebrate. Where things go from here remains to be seen, but we'd be willing to bet that a rematch will take place at the Extreme Rules PPV.

Good for WWE for doing this! Unfortunately, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if Lashkey gets a rematch and promptly wins the title back.
