WWE Hall of Famer Booker T never shies away from weighing in on what he sees on shows like RAW and SmackDown, and with Big E embarking on a singles run due to Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods being injured, he recently shared his thoughts on Big E needing to get serious and not be as silly as he is as part of The New Day.
Now, Big E has responded during an interview with Bleacher Report, and while he appreciates the advice, he has a slight different take on how his character should evolve moving forward.
"This is not a shot at Booker at all," he started. "I am so thoroughly entertained by his career, but this man had a world title around his waist as King Booker doing a faux English accent. You know I mean? Let’s put things in perspective here."
"I know Booker is a supporter, so this is not supposed to be a shot at him. We’ve had conversations too where he’s said some really nice things to me to my face, so I’m not here to take shots at him. But for me, it’s going to be about telling a story that makes sense. It doesn’t make sense to me to suddenly be serious."
That would be a very drastic character change for Big E, and there's no reason he can't find success as a singles competitor while still entertaining fans with some of his usual hijinks as part of The New Day.
