Since Triple H has taken charge of WWE following Vince McMahon's departure, we've seen a lot more hirings than firings. However, during last night's episode of RAW, former WWE Champion Bobby Lashley was fired by Adam Pearce!
It came after The All Mighty grew frustrated with his loss to Seth Rollins, blaming the referee for missing what would have been a guaranteed win for him. After knocking another official to the ground - following a stern warning for something similar from Pearce last week - Lashley was fired, and that's how the show ended.
Now, it goes without saying this is a storyline firing, but it will be interesting seeing how it's handled in the coming weeks. It's possible Lashley needs some time off or that this is part of a much bigger plan involving the popular WWE Superstar.
Something that isn't a storyline, however, is Matt Riddle's recent disappearance from television.
He really will be gone for six weeks, and not because he suffered an injury at the hands of Solo Sikoa. According to Bodyslam.net, Riddle failed a drug test over the summer, with that Wellness Policy violation the reason his match with Seth Rollins was moved up from SummerSlam to Clash at the Castle.
He's reportedly failed again since then, and after being warned another failure would result in his termination or being sent to rehab.
According to the site, "The belief going around is that he has already entered treatment, or will be going in soon as most programs run for 30 days and he would need to be finished in time for his return in six weeks."
WWE no longer tests for marijuana, so we'd assume this is something else. We're also guessing the company would like Riddle back in time for the Royal Rumble, but another mistake like this may end up costing him his career if he isn't careful.
Stay tuned for updates.
