We recently found out that the finals of the United States Championship tournament would not take place at The Royal Rumble as previously advertised, and tonight on SmackDown LIVE, a new champ was crowned.
Bobby Roode and Jinder Mahal won their respective matches against Mojo Rawley and Xavier Woods, but when The Singh Brothers lay a beat-down of Roode, The Glorious One demanded that the title match take place that very night.
GM Daniel Bryan was happy to oblige, and Roode walked away with the victory after a mediocre match.
It'll be interesting to see how former champ Dolph Ziggler factors into this situation, as him relinquishing the title was obviously part of an angle.
Tell us, are you happy to see Roode as the new US champ, or would you have preferred if someone else got the push?
