This week's SummerSlam go-home episode of SmackDown opened with Vince McMahon introducing ThunderDome (an odd, mostly pointless experiment), before being interrupted by The Fiend. Wyatt looked like he was going to attack the Chairman, but Braun Strowman came to his aid (who exactly is the babyface here again?).
As the former Wyatt Family stablemates starred each other down, Retribution (they're definitely alternating members now) surrounded the ring. Wyatt waved goodbye to The Monster and vanished, leaving Strowman to the mercy of the mysterious new faction.
Towards the end of the show, we were treated to a new episode of Firefly Fun House, with Huskus the Pigboy and Ramblin' Rabbit hilariously reenacting Strowman and Alexa Bliss' segment from last week. The camera then cut to Bray, who sensed The Monster's presence.
Both men brawled through the backstage area, with Strowman ultimately gaining the advantage and chokeslamming Wyatt through a doorway to the concrete below. The clearly injured Superstar was then loaded into an ambulance, but as it was leaving The Fiend emerged unscathed.
This was an effective, if overly dramatic segment which nicely set up the Universal Championship bout at SummerSlam. Wyatt should regain the title here, but that doesn't mean he will.
How do you guys see this one playing out?
