RAW opened with Cody Rhodes being attacked backstage by a rampaging Brock Lesnar. The Beast taunted his Night of Champions opponent during the beating and the American Nightmare was left nursing what appeared to be an injured arm.
As the show continued, rumours started circulating that Rhodes may, in fact, have broken it.
Needless to say, when Lesnar finally made his way out to the ring, he took great delight in taunting the babyface and claimed Rhodes will no longer be able to face him in Saudi Arabia on Saturday. He issued an open challenge for the PLE, but Rhodes responded, and despite wearing a sling, a fight ensued.
Unfortunately, Lesnar was quickly able to lock Rhodes in a Kimura Lock while screaming, "Fight me!"
Backstage, Cody refused medical help and argued with Adam Pearce about still competing at Night of Champions. Right at the end of the show, WWE CCO Triple H finally got involved and made it clear Rhodes needs to receive medical attention.
The Game pointed out that it's obvious his arm is broken and insisted he can't allow the former AEW star to compete this weekend. Pointing out that Triple H would have fought through the pain, Rhodes vowed to battle Lesnar as planned and received the nod from his boss, making it clear the match will still take place.
However, Rhodes will face Lesnar with a broken arm, putting him at a serious disadvantage when they square off. This is going to make the match even more interesting and may be a way for WWE to give Lesnar his win back in a feud that's likely set to continue over the summer.
