As we previously reported, WWE is planning to bring Matt Riddle to SmackDown, and he could be appearing on the Friday night show as soon as this Friday. However, something many fans have pointed out is the fact Riddle is someone RAW Executive Director Paul Heyman is high on, and that begs the question of why he's not coming to Monday nights instead.
On today's Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez shed some light on that. "The strange thing about this is that Paul Heyman is a big fan of Matt Riddle so you’d think he’s going to RAW, but this Matt Riddle/ Lesnar deal — I mean it’s weird like I’m sure there are aspects of it who are people that are just encouraging Matt Riddle to do what Matt Riddle does, but on the other side this, if anything else should tell you that this is legit because if they were trying to work together to build something up for a match I mean Matt Riddle goes to RAW."
"Lesnar’s not around, so it’s not like he can say, 'I’m not gonna share a locker room with him,'" he added. "Lesnar probably won’t be around until they’re running shows with fans again."
Alvarez would go on to say that he's convinced Lesnar is the reason Riddle isn't being moved to RAW, and Dave Meltzer made similar comments last night. Now, it's become clear that WWE was never really building to something between these two, and moving Riddle to SmackDown ensures The Beast won't have to come face to face with someone he's previously had a backstage altercation with.
