Roman Reigns' recent leukaemia diagnosis obviously changed WWE's plans in a big way and now Dave Meltzer has shed some light on what the company originally had planned. Apparently, once Vince McMahon learned of Reigns' illness, he offered Brock Lesnar the chance to win the title in Saudi Arabia at Crown Jewel in what was originally going to be The Beast's last night in the company for a while.
"The deal was, when Roman went down, Vince backed up the Brinks truck and felt with Roman gone they needed Brock," he explained on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Live. "Brock’s last date was gonna be Crown Jewel. Roman Reigns was gonna win that match."
Despite confirming that he's returning to UFC, Lesnar still hasn't signed a fight contract with the company and he could choose to remain with WWE if the deal is good enough. As of right now, no one knows what's planned for him beyond that match with WWE Champion AJ Styles at Survivor Series but it's possible he could end up sticking around until WrestleMania, giving UFC a miss in the process.
