An argument could be made that AJ Styles is the best wrestler in the world today but despite being WWE Champion and the longest running title holder in the company right now, he doesn't headline PPVs; Roman Reigns does. Styles will next defend his title against Daniel Bryan at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia but Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman will likely be the main event.
Now, WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray (a.k.a. Bubba Ray Dudley) has shared his thoughts on why Styles so often finds himself in the middle of the card on big shows and the reason may be a good one.
"When they know there’s a match that will steal the show but they don’t want that match to overshadow any other match, they put it in the middle of the show," the popular former WWE Superstar explained. "I can tell you that from personal experience. I went through this battle years ago – me, D-Von, Edge, Christian, Matt and Jeff. We were always in the middle of the show."
"He’s a big enough star to put on the cover of the video game," he continued. "They do have faith in AJ, but with the matches you know his is gonna blow everyone else away." Thoughts?
