Ask any wrestling fan who the most underutilised Superstar in WWE is today and they'll probably reply with, "Cesaro." Despite the fact that the Swiss Superman is a phenomenal athelete and someone the fans love to both boo and cheer, he's never really been given a chance. Now, though, he finds himself in a faction of sorts with Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura.
During a recent interview with TalkSport, Cesaro revealed that when he was moved to the blue brand, WWE had no plans for him, hence why he ended up joining his fellow international Superstars.
"Sami and Shin were doing a thing together. A thing where Sami was just going crazy during Shin’s entrances [laughs] everyone’s favorite GIF every week. And then Sami was like ‘Yeah, I’m trying to get you into the group’ and I’m like ‘Yeah, OK!’ I’ve moved to SmackDown again and there was no plan so I was like ‘Yeah, I’d love to, let’s do something!’
So I said that sounds like fun and it’s a fun dynamic with Sami being… Sami. And then there’s a mutual respect with Shin but I think he’s one of the coolest people in the world. He can do anything and just look cool. The first time I came out with these guys it was like OK, Shin is coming out looking cool, Sami is just going absolutely crazy, what am I going to do? I’m just going to stand absolutely still. I’m just going to be bad ass [laughs]. It’s a fun dynamic and it’s authentic."
It's certainly a pretty unique team and, with any luck, we'll start seeing them make an impact on
SmackDown now that the King of Strong Style is no longer Intercontinental Champion (he and Cesaro would chasing the tag team titles with Zayn in their corner would be no bad thing).
It is, however, crazy to think that WWE didn't have any major plans for Cesaro and we can now only hope that changes in the coming weeks before he decides the grass is greener elsewhere...
