Chelsea Green was quickly called up to the main roster following her final NXT match last May but was M.I.A. until November when she competed in a Survivor Series qualifying match on SmackDown...and broke her wrist. She's been recovering ever since and was among those released by WWE last week.
Talking to Fightful Select, Green opened up on some of the plans WWE had for her, including a faction with Vanessa Borne and Santana Garrett.
"I think I sat outside Vince's office for 4 weeks," Green said. "At that point, we were going to debut...I was going to debut as a trio. It was going to be sexy, Pussycat Dolls meets Charlie's Angels [or] whatever it was. We hadn't gone too far down the rabbit hole of thinking what that idea was going to be. But we were going to debut in a trio; myself, Danielle Kamela [Vanessa Borne] and Santana Garrett."
It may sound a little weird, but Green says she "loved that idea" and praised both Borne and Garrett as two women she'd have liked to work with as part of a group. She adds, "I knew that we were going to be able to make that work. I sat outside Vince's office with them for a couple weeks and then on my own for a couple weeks. I was able to meet with a couple writers but I never got to meet with Vince for that four weeks of waiting. Which again, COVID, obviously, that's totally fine."
The full interview makes it clear that WWE didn't really know what to do with Green, so it doesn't appear she's too upset about her WWE departure. She's already teased a return to a previous persona on social media and is likely anxious to return to the ring after an extended absence from the squared circle.
