We know that Chris Jericho has clashed backstage with Brock Lesnar but it appears as if hitting the independent scene (well, New Japan Pro Wrestling) has given the former United States Champion a different outlook on his WWE future. In fact, it very much sounds like Y2J is hoping to land a similar sort of deal as The Beast both in financial terms and the lighter schedule he has as a wrestler.
"I think a lot of people have animosity towards [Lesnar] because of that [favorable deal], but I don’t," he told Jim Ross during a recent conversation on the former commentator's podcast. "I admire the guy. I would like that deal and I’m not so sure that I won’t get a deal like that at some point."
That would make sense for Jericho. In the past, he's returned to WWE for pretty lengthy runs but after making a name for himself as a big star in NJPW, coming back just for those huge matches and rivalries would be an interesting new option for him. Jericho went on to say that he doesn't blame anyone for earning a good living if they can and you can see why he now feels he's reached that point.
Will Vince McMahon agree? That's another matter altogether but it's hard to believe he'll want to say goodbye to Y2J so here's hoping we see him back in WWE at some point in the near future now.
