Chris Jericho is the current All Elite Wrestling World Champion and it's fair to say that he's a big part of the reason Dynamite beats NXT in terms of ratings every Wednesday night. Now, though, the former WWE Superstar has revealed what Vince McMahon said when he learned that Jericho had signed with the rival company.
"I’m not in AEW because I was a rebel," Jericho admitted on his Talk is Jericho podcast. "I’m with AEW because Vince went, ‘go.’ And then, when I went, he went, ‘did you sign the contract?’ I said, ‘well, yeah.’ He said, ‘can you get out of it?’ ‘No! You told me to sign it!'"
We know that WWE wasn't willing to give Jericho the money he wanted to stick around where as AEW did but it definitely sounds like Vince had some remorse about that. In fact, Jericho compares it to the moment Scott Hall signed a deal with WCW back in 1996 when McMahon could have also prevented him from leaving the company.
"But [McMahon] had the opportunity to stop it like he did with [Hall], which is very interesting to me because 23 years later, he made the same [mistake]." Jericho added, "I love Vince."
