Chris Jericho was absent from this year's WrestleMania but he shared some insight into the event during a recent edition of his podcast. Specifically talking about why Vince McMahon dropped the numbers from the title of the show, he revealed that it boils down to the Chairman believing it ages the event and that's also why the commentators no longer call it "The Grandaddy Of Them All."
"The reason why, and everybody at home, is that Vince does not like the numbers after the WrestleMania because he feels like it dates it," Jericho explained. "Also, you're not allowed to call it 'The Grandaddy Of Them All' because he feels that it makes it seem old. So yeah, Super Bowl 75, he does not like the number, so you cannot refer to it as 'WrestleMania 34'."
"You just refer to it as 'WrestleMania,'" he continued. "One of those classic Vince McMahon quirks." Jericho also noted that McMahon has "America The Beautiful" sung at the start of the show out of personal preference because he doesn't like the American national anthem. Whether or not this number situation will change when WrestleMania 40 rolls around obviously remain to be seen.
