CM Punk made his first (proper) appearance on WWE Backstage tonight for a sit-down interview with Renee Young, and it made for great TV.

First off, it was clear almost immediately that Punk really isn't going to be watching what he says about the current WWE product, as he was heavily critical of how over-produced the matches and "characters" are. He did say that he enjoyed a lot of the women's division stuff and what was going on at NXT, however.

When Young asked the question on everybody's minds - if he's planning on an in-ring return - Punk didn't rule out the possibility, but said it's not something he's "actively pursuing." He also said there would have to be a lot of new bridges built in order for him to have the right conversations with the right people to make that happen.

Nobody really expected Punk to make any kind of announcements tonight, but at least he seems open to the possibility. Probably best not to hold your breath for a Royal Rumble appearance, though.
