CM Punk Hopes To See Big E Dump His New Day Partners During Planned Singles Run

With The New Day members Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods on the shelf, Big E is getting a singles run, and former WWE Superstar CM Punk has shared his thoughts on why the former NXT Champion should turn on them.

WWE Backstage is no more, but hosts CM Punk, Booker T, and Renee Young reunited earlier this week for a SummerSlam 1992 watch party. During that, they discussed Big E's new singles run, something WWE is pursuing now that his fellow New Day members Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods are shelved with injuries.

Both Booker T and Punk agreed that Big E needs to separate himself from that faction over the coming weeks, and Punk argued that to keep his character fresh, the former NXT Champion should turn on Kingston and Woods, ending The New Day.

"I definitely think...Big E and New Day they’ve been rolling for like how long?" he started. "I agree with you that he has to dump Woods and Kofi, kick those guys to the curb. That’s what we’re talking about right?" Booker T said he thinks Big E should attack his teammates, leading to Young pointing out that fans don't want to see The New Day come to an end.

To that, Punk said: "Sometimes that’s the best thing to do, something that people don’t want to see."

It's a valid point, and having Big E take out and destroy the rest of The New Day would help transform him into a killer heel fans would truly despise (similar to when Seth Rollins attacked his Shield brothers). What do you guys think?
