During the Clash at the Castle main event on Saturday in Glasgow, Scotland, it looked like Drew McIntyre had Damian Priest beaten for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Unfortunately, the referee was down and couldn't count the pinfall. Another quickly hit the ring, only to stop counting at "2" before the camera panned around and revealed it was CM Punk! He hit McIntyre with a low blow and Priest used a South of Heaven chokeslam to retain his title.
Talking at the Clash at the Castle post-show press conference, the Second City Saint shared an update on his torn tricep.
"I've been cleared only for referee duty," Punk joked. "I had a little bit of a hiccup out there so we'll go back to the lab and reassess. I can tell you that my arm feels amazing. I got permission to skip 'Raw' in Corpus Christi to go home to Chicago to see my doctors with the idea that I'm going to be cleared. I don't know if I'm supposed to stay that."
"I think SmackDown is in Chicago next week. I’m a Raw guy, but I’m going to skip Raw, get cleared, and show up to SmackDown and let everybody know the good news. Hopefully."
Punk also weighed in on his hatred for McIntyre who, as we're sure you'll recall, was the one who injured the Best in the World during this year's Men's Royal Rumble match.
"The animosity comes from being gleeful about it. He said he prayed for it; now I'm going to prey on him. He's never going to be a champion here as long as I live, not as long as we're on the same brand, not as long as we're in the same company, as long as there's air in my lungs. I promise you he is never going to be a champion again."
"I hope Drew McIntyre is 100 percent after that gruelling match," he continued. "I will never wish another athlete suffers an injury that costs the what they love to do and that puts food on their table for their family, so no animosity towards Drew for the injury."
Punk won't be at RAW tonight but McIntyre is bound to have plenty to say. For now, you can hear more from the Chicago-born WWE Superstar in the player below.
