There's been a lot of speculation about CM Punk's future in WWE following his appearance on Fox Sports 1's
WWE Backstage and some new details have been revealed today courtesy of Wrestling Observer Live's Bryan Alvarez. Apparently, the one-time Best in the World did meet with All Elite Wrestling boss Tony Khan despite his claims they've only exchanged texts.
"CM Punk met in person with Tony Khan about AEW and they offered him a lot of money and he ended up this WWE on FOX gig," he reveals. "What does that mean? I don’t know. It could mean that CM Punk does not, in fact, have any interest in actually wrestling. It could be that CM Punk wants to continue doing what he’s doing in his life [and] he’s over the in-ring aspect."
Punk is only going to be a special correspondent on WWE Backstage and will not be on the show every week. WWE's website and social channels have only made brief references to his return and it's no secret that the former WWE Champion's deal is with FOX rather than WWE.
Still, it's hard to escape the feeling that Punk won't now step back into the squared circle but nothing is set in stone in that respect and it ultimately depends on a lot of different factors.
