We were promised a one-on-one confrontation between Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes on SmackDown, but did it deliver?
The segment began with the Tribal Chief making his way to the ring. He claimed that he'd been good to his word and that no other members of The Bloodline were present, prompting Rhodes to join him.
Reigns tore into the American Nightmare for being foolish enough to think with his heart and reminded him that his WrestleMania tag team partner, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, is the backstabber who broke up The Shield.
Rhodes countered by pointing out to the heel that his family were the first ones to beat that faction and, while Rollins might hate him, he hates Reigns even more. He then questioned the Head of the Table about his alliance with The Rock and wondered who is really in charge of The Bloodline.
Reigns dismissed his questioning as coming from a "true politician" and called his WrestleMania opponent a number two, describing his destiny as being the one. Rhodes conceded that Reigns will likely go down as the greatest of all time but vowed to dethrone him at the Show of Shows.
Rhodes ended things by wishing Reigns luck at WrestleMania and offered Roman his hand. The heel mocked him by shaking Paul Heyman's hand instead and left the ring...where he clicked his fingers and got Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso to join him.
However, not to be outsmarted, Rhodes then brought out his own backup in the form of Rollins and Jey Uso, and SmackDown went off the air with all six men staring each other down.
