Last night on Raw, Rey Mysterio was allowed to pick the stipulation for his singles bout with Seth Rollins at The Horror Show at Extreme Rules, and the legendary luchador chose an "Eye for an Eye match."
Rey seemed to make it clear that the winner would have to tear his opponent's eye from his head to win the match, but since that's obviously impossible to achieve on a literal level, we assumed that it would later be clarified that he didn't mean it literally.
Well, he did!
WWE has now confirmed the stipulation with the following listing on their website: "The Horror Show at Extreme Rules added a new level of terror as Rey Mysterio and Seth Rollins will meet in an Eye for an Eye Match. Mysterio teamed with Kevin Owens to defeat Rollins & Murphy for the right to choose the gory stipulation where a winner can only determined by extracting the opponent’s eye."
This is really [frick]ed up. Mysterio has been through enough to just about justify him wanting to do this to Rollins, but it's still pretty grim. Also, how on Earth are they going do an eye gouge spot without it looking ridiculous it? Our best guess it'll be a pre-taped, cinematic match that'll utilize some decent FX.
What do you guys make of this gruesome stip? Let us know in the usual place.
