Some backstage news has been revealed about Corey Graves' controversial Tweets aimed at NXT commentator Mauro Ranallo and it's claimed that it was all meant to play into the brand warfare at Survivor Series.

As we mentioned yesterday, Corey Graves apologised for his remarks about Mauro Ranallo's work during NXT TakeOver: WarGames on the latest edition of his After The Bell podcast. That led to Ranallo missing both Survivor Series and last night's episode of NXT on the USA Network.

Now, Pro Wrestling Sheet's Ryan Satin is reporting that the reason Graves made those disparaging comments at Ranallo's expense was to play into the brand warfare element of the PPV on Sunday.

Graves reportedly planned to bring the Tweets up in a humorous manner during Survivor Series when he was joined by Ranallo on commentary and while this explanation feels like damage control to some extent, it would make sense and it's entirety possible that the entire situation has been blown out of proportion.

Either way, the damage has been done and we now wish Ranallo a speedy recovery.
