Ever since WWE announced plans for SmackDown LIVE's 1000th episode, there's been speculation that The Rock might be a part of the show. After all, the blue brand is named after one of his famous catchphrases.

Now, Joe Peisich of BarnBurner.ca is reporting that the company has indeed been negotiating with "The People's Champ," claiming that we are "very, very close to a Rock appearance."

Of course, this is far from rock solid (no pun) confirmation that we'll see the multiple-time WWE Champion drop in to layeth the smacketh down on some poor jabroni, but it's definitely worth keeping an eye on as we get closer to the show.

The 1000th episode of SmackDown emanates from Washington, D.C on Oct. 16.
