It's been brewing for several weeks now, but last night's RAW saw former World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest finally turn babyface.
Priest hit the ring early on and got the fans behind him after Finn Balor cost him the title at SummerSlam on Saturday, with it quickly becoming clear that everyone is ready to start cheering the former Judgement Day member.
Balor appeared on the Tron to reveal that he'd spent the past year plotting against Priest after he cost him the title at last year's Money in the Bank PLE (this sort of long-term storytelling has become a huge part of the "Triple H Era"). With that, he introduced the new Judgement Day:
World Tag Team Champions Finn Balor & JD McDonagh, Dominik Mysterio, Carlito, and Women's World Champion Liv Morgan.
Later that evening, Priest went one-on-one with McDonagh and absolutely dominated his former ally. However, just as it looked like he was about to pick up the win, Balor attacked and, alongside the new Judgement Day, laid waste to Priest.
That prompted Rhea Ripley to hit the ring and, after dealing with McDonagh and Morgan, they stood side-by-side in the ring together. Still, the odds are undoubtedly stacked against them!
"I’ve been [a babyface] before, but it wasn’t always me," Priest said in a recent interview. "This is me. And it’s cool to have people support me not because they’re told to, but because they want to."
