Damian Priest won the Money in the Bank briefcase in London last July and, all these months later, he still hasn't cashed in. We've seen multiple attempts, but they've all been foiled and he's approaching a point where he'll break the record for holding the briefcase for the longest time without cashing in.
Priest is, of course, one-half of the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Champions with Finn Balor and, at WrestleMania, they'll defend those titles against five other teams (three from RAW and two from SmackDown).
Talking on The Babyfaces Podcast, Priest addressed the constant chatter surrounding the fact he's yet to become world champion.
"Just waiting and seeing. I've got until July," he explained. "I'm good. It doesn't expire at WrestleMania. I think a lot of people get confused with that because it used to be at WrestleMania. But I have till July so...man, I'm chilling. We're fine. It's gonna happen."
"I see the stuff online where people aren't sure if I'm gonna cash in, is it gonna be successful and championship material. When it happens, I'm gonna shut everybody up," Priest continued. "I'm not gonna let everybody know when, because that would be silly. But it'll happen and it's gonna happen big so, I'm looking forward to that day and kind of shutting a lot of people up."
It would be a ballsy move on WWE's part to have Priest cash in on Rhodes right after he finishes the story by defeating Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns, though we'd imagine World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins - and his WrestleMania opponent, Drew McIntyre - could be in danger as well.
"There’s no rush, but knowing what’s coming up, WrestleMania, you got Cody, who knows what champion he’s going to face," Priest said earlier this year. "You have [The] Rock getting involved. Obviously, Roman’s gonna be there, [and] Seth coming in as World [Heavyweight] Champion. He should be cleared by then."
"I could ruin a lot of people’s days. So it’s an exciting time. I don’t know exactly when or exactly who, but the options are very good."
