Last week, reports surfaced that Daniel Bryan has been given more creative influence backstage in WWE, hence why we've seen him working with many of SmackDown's overlooked Superstars. During yesterday's Elimination Chamber PPV, the leader of the Yes Movement battled Drew Gulak in the PPV's opening match, and it was an awesome bout.
In a post-match interview, Bryan got a little emotional talking about that, and explained why it meant so much to him to get the opportunity to step into the squared circle with Gulak last night.
"As crazy as it sounds, I feel alive," he explained. "This is what I love about this is that I don’t ever want to go through the motions. When I go out there and fight, I want to fight with my heart. I want to fight with blood and guts. That’s why I’ve wanted to fight Drew Gulak for years."
"I was commentating the Cruiserweight Classic and Drew Gulak was in the tournament," Bryan continued. "I had seen him on Evolve and I had seen him on independent shows and this was my first time to see him live. I watched him and I said I wish I could get in the ring with that guy because that guy fights with blood and guts."
Interestingly, it now sounds like Bryan might be open to hearing some of Gulak's advice...
